For years these were mostly lined carbon steel. Today more and more designers specify glass-reinforced plastic (GRP) vessels instead.
What a GRP pressure vessel is
A GRP vessel is filament-wound from glass fibre and resin around a liner, giving a strong, light shell that cannot rust. Vessels are made in a range of diameters and heights, with top and side openings, internal distributors and collectors, and supports designed for the media weight and operating pressure.

Why GRP instead of steel
- No corrosion from chlorinated, salty or low-pH water, so no relining
